Computerworld Australia’s updated guide to in-person and virtual events for technology and IT pros.

Computerworld Australia has compiled a list of upcoming technology events for the Australian IT industry taking place in the following weeks and months.

With the spread of the novel coronavirus, conferences and summits that were to take place starting from March were either cancelled or postponed, some technology vendors have transformed their physical events into virtual ones, and other events scheduled for later in the year are still confirmed or being postponed.

This list will be updated as we hear of more events so keep checking for updates.

July 2020 tech events

1-2 July: Interface by Apidays brings worldwide speakers to present their API strategy on topics including the evolutions of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, OpenAPI Specification, API-first architecture, microservices, and domain-driven design. For APAC the event will run on Singapore time.

2 July: Redgate Streamed will focus on how businesses in APAC can apply devops to any project, manage a successful cloud transformation, achieve data privacy and protection, and other topics. This series counts on A/NZ executives including Troy Hunt, a Microsoft regional director and founder of Have I Been Pwned.

5 July: PairAngular, a meetup group focused on pair programming on Angular, will host its second Pai Angular webinar. This meetup will have a pair-programming live coding session to implement file upload with Firebase storage in an Angular app using the Firebase Storage Service.

9 July: Adelaide ReactJS meetup group will host a physical event at the Stone & Chalk office with networking and for updates on some of the latest developments in the React Native landscape.

9-30 July: Secureworks will run a series of webinars on how Australian security leaders are adapting to new threats, priorities and strategies.

21 July: Devops Melbourne meetup will go online and will count on Patrick Debois, the founder of DevOpsDay and recognised as the creator of the devops movement.

21-22 July: Worldwide Business Research will run Field Service Asia Summit in a virtual format. The event has a series of online webinars including a series of 25-minute online presentations and 30-minute panel discussions and live Q&A. The themes that will be explored are organisation readiness during a crisis; managing field service remotely; building stronger relationships; today’s technologies and the future of field service. Registrations are free and the event will run on Singapore time.

23 July: Rubrik is running its ANZ Forward Summit with virtual technical sessions, keynotes and fireside chats. The event will feature customers and local and international Rubrik leaders.

August 2020 tech events

Possible 4 August: MongoDB.local Sydney, a MongoDB conference covering the techniques of app design and performance management, is set to take place at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. MongoDB’s website states the event as “to be confirmed”.

6 August: SAP will run its SAP Adaptive Strategies: Accelerated, which will count on SAP and industry experts, associations, customers and partners sharing the “risk” and “opportunity” of different industries impacted by the coronavirus.

September 2020 tech events

8-10 September: Nutanix has a virtual version of its annual Nutanix.Next conference focused on hybrid cloud, hyperconvergence, devops, automation and security.

TBC September: Slack will host its Frontiers conference in a virtual format. Attendees will have the chance to hear how customers and industry leaders are transforming their businesses, discover best practices for developers using Slack and connect with the greater Slack community.

29 September-1 October: Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC) is being relaunched as a free virtual event and will cover new and better ways to succeed with Apple devices with the purpose of empowering people, transforming business processes and making IT life easier.

October 2020 tech events

12-16 October: The annual Agile Australia conference, AgileAus20, is scheduled for 12 and 13 October in Melbourne with workshop days scheduled for 14 October in Melbourne and for 16 October in Sydney. The event includes sessions on culture, tools and tech, case studies and interactive ‘Deep Dives’ for the agile community.

26-29 October: Gartner’s annual IT Symposium/Xpo brings CIOs together in the Gold Coast to hear from research experts and leading solution providers.
